Cairo, Egypt: A City Guide

Thursday March 17, 2005
camelblog.JPG Home to more than 16 million people, Cairo, Africa's largest city, is not for the faint of heart. Traffic lights are routinely ignored and donkey carts still vie with cars for the right of way. Mosques and minarets mingle uneasily with gleaming skyscrapers. Then of course there are the Great Pyramids, the oldest tourist destination in the world. A shoppers paradise (if you like to bargain), an archaeologists' fantasy, a drivers' nightmare; Cairo is all of these and more and I would highly recommend it.

You should spend at least three days in Cairo just to see the highlights. They would include the Pyramids of Giza, a walk through Islamic Cairo, a trip to the camel bazaar and a few hours at the Egyptian Museum of Antiquity. Let my travel guide to Cairo help you make the most of your visit.
