Birding in Africa
Monday March 21, 2005
Africa is arguably the most exciting destination for bird watchers. There are more than 900 species in Southern Africa alone. Personally I love the fact that birders are probably the only group of tourists who will get enthusiastic about visiting countries like Angola and Algeria. We all know they could use the hard currency, so thumbs up to the twichers among you.
For a comprehensive list of where to go birding in Africa, separated by country, see this checklist by our About.com Guide to Birding. Get inspired by viewing this wonderful collection of bird photos taken while on safari in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
