Riaan's Bumping Through Elephant Dung

Thursday October 6, 2005
Riaan Manser is making his way through Mozambique, the final leg of his 2 year journey circumnavigating the African continent on a bicycle. This past week he almost ran over a python, struggled to get his bike through heaps of fresh elephant dung and was shocked by the tremendous deforestation he is seeing in Southern Mozambique. From Riaan's site:

I was excited now because it meant the elephants were nearby. From there on onwards I hardly gazed down but was continuously scanning either side of me. I could not listen for any movement either because the flies that were imitating satellites around my head were far too noisy.
