If going on safari isn't quite exciting enough, there are several beautiful spots in Africa where you can throw yourself off a bridge with a rubber band attached to your ankles. Bungee jumping is an adrenalin sport that was made commercially viable in New Zealand during the mid 1980's and quickly spread around the world, including Africa.
The most spectacular backdrop to a body hurtling upside down through the air must be the Victoria Falls on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. If you're going to risk it all, I can't think of a better place to bounce up and down than in front of the world's largest waterfall.
South Africa boasts the highest commercial jump in the world at Bloukrans Bridge. There are several other jumps in the area including a bridge swing which doesn't require you to be upside down (for those who prefer their thrills the right way up).
Not to be outdone, East Africa is gaining ground and there's
a bungee jump in Kenya off a platform into the Tana River. You can also bungee into the Nile River in Uganda and continue the adventure with some white-water rafting. Bungee jumping and white-water rafting seem to attract the same kind of people.
Hopefully I'll soon be reporting on the first Zorb ball ride in Africa. The New Zealanders have now invented a giant ball (the Zorb) which you climb into and roll down hills. The sand dunes in Namibia would be perfect for this activity .....
