Where's Stu? On Safari in Kenya
Stu has been traveling around Africa for a year and his last stop is Kenya before he heads for South America. In Kenya he's been enjoying the wildlife while on a budget tour of the Masai Mara, the historic island of Lamu and the cafes in Nairobi. Here are some excerpts from Stu's latest blog:
We went for an early morning game drive at 6am. The highlight of the game drive was seeing a lion with its freshly killed Wildebeest. We got back to the campsite at 8am for breakfast. For more information on Stu's last two weeks in Africa and some good tips on how to book budget tours in Kenya read his latest (and last) blog from Africa. We then drove into Lake Nakuru Park. It's a small park near the town. It's full of vast numbers of pelicans and flamingos. The flamingos appear to stain the lake pink.
The town [Lamu] has very narrow streets, the walls of the old buildings are made of coral. There are bridges across the streets that connect houses. These were built so that the women of the houses could meet each other without having to interact with any men. It's still a very conservative and traditional society. There are no cars on the island at all.
