How Many African Countries Have You Been To?

Monday October 8, 2007
Topographical Map of Africa I've traveled to more than a dozen countries in Africa and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface of what the continent has to offer. Not only is Africa large, but the countries are often vast (especially outside of West Africa) and it can take days to get from one town to another.

Most people will visit several countries in Africa during one vacation. Safari goers in Kenya can nip across to Tanzania to enjoy the open spaces of the Serengeti. Visitors to South Africa will often combine their trip with a visit to the Victoria Falls in Zambia (or Zimbabwe). Those with more time enjoy Overland tours which always combine several countries -- you can even go the whole way from Cape Town to Cairo.

From the e-mails and feedback I get, it appears that there's a very well traveled bunch of people out there, so please vote in the poll and let us know how many countries you have visited. Feel free to comment on your favorites by clicking on the "comment link" below the poll.

Does spending a night on the northern shore of the Orange River on a river-rafting trip count as having been to Namibia?

Sure! You crossed the river and it’s officially Namibia. I would tack it on to your count :-)
