New Year's Eve in Africa

Thursday December 20, 2007
vananyblog.jpg New Year's Eve is celebrated throughout Africa and you should find a good party in any of the continent's bars and hotels on the night of December 31st. Folks in Johannesburg used to celebrate the New Year by throwing fridges out of their apartment windows, luckily this practice has been toned down. South Africa is probably the wildest place to celebrate the New Year, with abundant sunshine, beaches, bonfires and nightclubs -- you can't go wrong.

Ethiopians who recently celebrated their millennium in September will still be enjoying the evening, since as in every African country; the 1st of January is a public holiday. Find out more about New Year's Eve in Africa.

I wish everyone a very happy, peaceful and prosperous 2008.
