Chefchaouen, Morocco

Wednesday December 26, 2007
chefchaouen Chefchaouen is situated in the Rif Mountains of Morocco, and it's a lovely town to visit. Backpackers have long discovered this laid back, pretty place and they don't just come here for the kif. The streets in the small old medina have been painted glorious shades of blue which contrasts wonderfully with the mountain backdrop. In the little town square, elderly Moroccan men dressed in their traditional jallabas mix easily with Spanish weekenders and young travelers from all over the world.

I really enjoyed Chefchaouen and would highly recommend a couple of nights here. The trinkets are abundant and cheap, the rooftop cafes are perfect for a sundowner and the restaurants serve a very decent tagine. Browse through my photo guide to Chefchaouen and make sure to include it in your itinerary when you visit Morocco.
