Eight US tourists have died in Egypt, and more than 20 were injured as their tour bus crashed in the early hours of December 26th. The tour bus was on a familiar route from Aswan to Abu Simbel, one of Egypt's most popular tourist sites. It's a popular day tour, and buses leave very early in the morning to be able to fit the tour in, and make it back to the cruise ships that dock in Awsan by the evening. The tour bus hit a stationary truck on the road. The tour company they traveled with was Misr Travel, a well established tour company based in New York.

I just came back from Abu Simbel. I did the afternoon tour, so coming back to Aswan was dark. All over Egypt the drivers do not have their headlights on. Even our bus driver didn’t use his headlights. Having your lights on is considered rude to the other driver!
