I was fortunate enough to grow up in a country that I believe has some of the best beaches in the world -- the shores of Lake Malawi. It's been difficult to top the experience of lying on a totally undeveloped stretch of beach and swimming in sweet, clear warm water, awash with colorful fish. So it took me a while, but I've finally compiled a list of what I consider to be the best beaches in Africa. I made myself stick to a one beach per country rule, otherwise countries like Tanzania and The Seychelles would have dominated.
I also tried to include destinations that were realistically accessible to most people. I understand Eritrea and Somalia have wonderful coastlines and many beautiful beaches, but I am not familiar enough to recommend them. That's why I would love to get your opinion on "Best Beaches in Africa". With any top 10 list, there are always people who vehemently disagree with me, and I welcome your alternative suggestions.
