Find out When to Visit to Ghana

| Accra | Tamale|

Ghana is located in West Africa on the Gulf of Guinea, between Cote d'Ivoire and Togo. Ghana enjoys a hot and humid tropical climate year round with average daily temperatures hovering around 30 Celsius (85 Fahrenheit). Most of the country experiences two rainy seasons during the year. The wettest months are May and June, and October. In Tamale, northern Ghana, the weather is a bit drier, and the second rains in October do not always fall. From November to early March, the north of Ghana also experiences the harmattan. A dry hot wind that blows sand from the Sahara desert.

Ghana's coast is actually drier and enjoys more sunshine than areas inland. This includes Accra and some of the major tourist attractions along the Cape Coast, so good (but hot) weather is likely outside of the peak rainy season. Accra is hottest from November to January. Nights do get cooler, especially around the Volta Basin, in the east of the country.

The main rainy season falls sometime during May - September, it is drier than in the south (Accra). Northern Ghana also has the hot desert winds (harmattan) to contend with, from November - March, that brings a lot of Saharan sand, making conditions dusty.
