Uganda is a Safe Destination
Despite their relative poverty Ugandans will make you feel extremely welcome when you visit their country. Unlike Nairobi, Mombasa and Dar es Salaam, it is actually pleasant to walk around Kampala by day and even at night (in the well-lit areas). Although petty crime and opportunistic pickpocketing does happen, violent crime is relatively rare.
