Progress in Uganda
With Obote's departure in the mid-1980's and a return to stability under Museveni, the Uganda government has made great efforts to implement better health and education policies. The literacy rate has improved significantly in the last 20 years and now stands at almost 70% of the population. Uganda is also one of the few African countries to openly deal with the HIV/AIDS crisis despite being as socially conservative as its neighbours.
