Casablanca

While welcoming if you have been "roughing it" in other parts of Morocco, it is a modern city with modern conveniences and problems. Tangier
Tangier was probably more interesting in the 1950's when it was full of adventure seekers, artists, poets and the like. It still has its charms today, you can explore the Medina (old city) and take a walk down the promenade.

A favourite with independent travellers, Essaouira is a great place to get away from the heat and bustle of the bigger cities. Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley enjoyed the beach scene here and although it isn't quite so mellow as it was in the 1960's it is still a very picturesque old port. The Dakar Rally
