Guhondo weighs in at over 220 kg's, he is around 40 years old and the largest Silverback in Rwanda. When he strolled right by us, he loomed large and just oozed physical power. He is the leader of this group and he could have flicked me away like a fly. The day before he had actually floored a ranger that got in his way. This is unusual, and the ranger was unhurt, just surprised to find himself lying on his back in the dense greenery.
We were trying to get a good shot of him, but honestly he is so enormous, I didn't mind standing at the back of the group and watching him from a distance after I took the photo.
