The Ksar Ouled Soltane is a popular tourist attraction in Tunisia's southern province of Tataouine. The Ksar Ouled Soltane is a particularly attractive and well-preserved fortified granary built by the Berbers in the 15th Century. The multi-level granaries are called ghorfas and the fortified village is the Ksar. Granaries were fortified to stop raids on a village's food supply.
The Ksar is an adobe structure which blends in beautifully with the hillside. You can explore all the little staircases and different levels of the structure.

The Ksar Ouled Soltane is itself an impressive structure built on the mountainside. It's a fun place to explore, especially if you're traveling with children. And it's also the location of the Slave Quarters in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
How to get to Ksar Ouled Soltane:
There are organized Star Wars tours that will take you to Ksar Ouled Soltane as well as regular tours.
If you're traveling independently, you can also get to Ksar Ouled Soltane by getting to the market town of Tataouine and taking a taxi from there to the Ksar. There is no accommodation at the Ksar itself so you'll have to spend the night in Tataouine.
There's a small cafe where you can get refreshments inside the Ksar.
